About
Welcome to the Bible, the Child, and Film, a website showcasing scholarly research within the fields of biblical studies, childhood studies and film studies, particularly, though not exclusively, at the intersections between them.
My academic history, including how I came to interdisciplinary research in these fields and the projects I am currently working on, can be found here and a copy of my current CV here. Given that my work in the second field is grounded in advocacy movements within the academy aimed at bettering the lives of children, I have included a statement here on children’s rights.
Details on my published peer-reviewed essays and articles can be found here, as well as information on forthcoming books here.
Copies of my conference papers dating back to 2010, as well as videos converted from my PowerPoint presentations on film since 2014, will be uploaded as I have time to do so under the Conference Papers tab.
All of my film conference papers to date would benefit from expanded treatments or have uncovered fruitful areas for further research, which I hope to explore, as time permits, in themed series of video essays, which will be uploaded here. Under this same Projects tab will appear ongoing research emanating from my graduate-level coursework in biblical studies. As the paper topics listed under my academic bio reveals, I have a particular interest in biblical narrative and the various source-critical, redaction-critical and text-critical conundrums that underlie their compositions. These topics range from Pentateuchal criticism to the ostensible creation of a ‘Deuteronomistic History’ to the sources utilized by the Chronicler to translations of Israel’s sacred texts into Greek to the so-called ‘Synoptic Problem’ to the undisputed and disputed letters within the Pauline corpus. Again, as time permits, I will update these sections with research and video essays that would help support future publications in these areas.
Finally, under the Links tab will be on-line resources and pertinent bibliographies for each of the three fields of research that are the focus of this website: biblical studies, childhood studies and film studies. If you find a broken link, either here or anywhere else on the website, please email me and I will have it fixed as soon as possible.
Thank you for visiting my website! I hope you have found something here of interest and will continue to visit on a regular basis as more content is uploaded.
Love, peace and freedom to everyone. May we break down the barriers that currently divide us and come together as one human family.
